A CALL FROM TURKEY TO THE PEOPLES OF THE EARTH FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE AND DEMOCRACY
To social movements and organizations, Indigenous peoples, peoples of African descent, trade unions, women’s and gender justice groups, youth movements, peasants’ and farmers’ groups, fisherfolk, coastal communities and food sovereignty networks, forest dwellers’ and workers’ groups, faith groups, local and frontline communities, climate and environmental justice coalitions, and all movements standing for justice everywhere on Earth:

We, the social movements of Turkey, invite the movements of the world to Antalya, on 14-18 November 2026, to the Peoples’ Climate Summit beyond COP31.
The climate crisis is a crisis of life, and one system produces it: capitalism, with its fossil economy that feeds and is fed by war; with its agribusiness and extractivism that devour land, water and forests; with its Big Tech, mining, energy and agrifood corporations that concentrate power and drain the planet dry for ever more profit; and with its false solutions sold to us in place of real change. This order is defended by patriarchy, by rising fascism and authoritarianism, racism and xenophobia, and by old and new imperialism and colonialism; and it has shown its face to the world with the genocides in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, and elsewhere. Those least responsible for the crisis are made to carry its heaviest burdens. That is why our struggle is one: there is no climate justice without peace, and no climate justice without democracy, human rights, and liberation from colonialism, imperialism, and patriarchy.
This call has been growing through the process of peoples’ summits of this decade, from Glasgow to Belém in Amazonia and onward to Santa Marta in Latin America; and we want to carry that process further, together, in the same spirit, in Anatolia.

We are building our Summit on four intersectional axes of struggle:
Against wars and militarization, from the genocides in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo, to every conflict zone in the world, we stand for an immediate end to the wars that slaughter people, drive greenhouse gas emissions and devastate ecosystems. We demand disarmament, the peoples’ right to self-determination, and a just and lasting peace.
Against the exploitation of fossil fuels, responsible for more than 80 percent of global emissions and whose continued expansion puts 1.5°C out of reach; against nuclear energy and « green » extractivism; and against the false solutions, from speculative carbon capture to empty pledges, that are dangerous distractions from the real solutions already available at scale: we demand energy democracy, in which energy is organized publicly, locally and democratically, accessible and diverse.

Against the big agrifood system, which causes the destruction of biodiversity and food crises, we defend traditional and Indigenous knowledge, agroecology, local seeds, small producers, and food sovereignty, in which peoples own their food systems and decide what to produce and how.

Against ecosystem destruction, we demand the recognition of the rights of rivers, oceans, forests, land, soil, animals and all ecosystems; the recognition of ecocide as a crime; an end to false solutions and to the commodification of land, nature and our commons; and accountability from the corporations and states that destroy nature.
We see all of these struggles as one common struggle for liberation. The age of ecological destruction must end not through carbon markets, nuclear energy or new waves of green mining, but through a just transition built by Indigenous peoples, peoples of African descent, farmers and peasants, fisherfolk and coastal communities, workers, women and gender-diverse groups, youth, disabled people, and local communities. The Global North must pay its historical climate debt, and those responsible for genocide and ecocide must be held accountable.

We extend this call from the Mediterranean basin, from Anatolia, where the struggles for nature, land, water, human rights and democracy are one and the same struggle, to every movement raising its voice for justice in the world.

Let us open our Summit on Saturday 14 November, the Global Day of Action, marching together in the streets of Antalya.
